Birth Debriefing Sessions
£70 per session
Birth debriefing sessions are a psychological intervention aimed at preventing or alleviating postnatal mental health issues, including PTSD and depression. They can be valuable whether you are a week or a decade post-partum as they give you the opportunity to talk through your subjective birth experience with an experienced counsellor.
Often women feel like their plans and options were overlooked or that the birth was taken out of their control, and being able to talk about the experience allows us to reclaim our story and sense of agency.
Women who have had a traumatic birth experience may be particularly helped by birth debriefing sessions. This type of counselling enables you to process what has happened and supports you to manage the symptoms attached to the trauma, such as flashbacks, anxiety and depression. Using talking therapy and yoga-based techniques the aim is to move the experience out of present trauma and into memory.
Sessions are tailored to the individual experience and needs of each person and a minimum of three sessions is recommended.
